LRX Spyshots Part 1
|
We’ve hunted down Land Rover’s new LRX and it looks like the off-roader is closer than ever.
Spied out in the open dressed up as a Freelander, the mule is trying hard to disguise what it really is, but we’ve managed to figure it out. And with its shortened rear end and heavily revised front fascia there’s little else the mini Land Rover could be, the production LRX is expected to be taller than the Freelander though.
Engine details are still unconfirmed, but it’s strongly hinted the LRX will get its power from either a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine or a 3.2-liter petrol straight six. The concept version previewed earlier this year also showed-off a hybrid 2.0-litre turbodiesel which is a possibility further in future.
The LRX should also be available in both three and five-door variants when it is officially unveiled towards the end of next year, sales are expected to begin in 2011.
